We have created a series of podcasts written by gay and bisexual men, and all men who have sex with men, who have had challenging experiences with alcohol during their life.
By creating the podcasts we hope that listeners, who also may have issues with alcohol, will be able to relate to the events and experiences that the writers have been through. Alcohol affects many of us in different ways, but we are not alone. Our common struggles can connect us and provide hope to overcome difficult experiences.
This series of podcasts are read by the actor, and friend of SX, David Mahoney. David brings to the Bottoms Up project decades of acting experience and a very personal interpretation of our contributors’ writing. We are also very privileged to have permission to use music created by the musician Haftor Medbøe to accompany the readings.
Podcast One: The Lost Years by Garry Mac
We begin our series of podcasts with a reading of Garry Mac’s powerful examination of the years he lost to alcohol. Funny, thought-provoking, and emotional, Garry’s personal account is a must listen. Keep an eye on social media for upcoming podcasts from the series.
At SX, we support all men who have sex with men, advising on everything from alcohol, drugs and mental health to sexual health and HIV testing. For more information, visit our website: www.s-x.scot or email us: email@example.com
Podcast Two: Barbour/Searle
This podcast contains a reading of David Barbour’s poem, Nature’s Cruel Trick and Fraser Serle’s untitled short story.
So, what’s your story? We’re always looking for more submissions – from blog articles or stories to monologues and poems. It can be humorous, serious or anonymous. If you’re interested in submitting a piece for our website or have any questions, contact us: firstname.lastname@example.org
