Counselling

While Scotland is generally considered progressive when it comes to LGBTQ+ issues, discrimination hasn’t disappeared from our culture.

One consequence of this is that gay and bisexual men, and all men who have sex with men, face a range of health inequalities, including poor mental and sexual health.

We currently work with our partners at LGBT Health to provide a counselling service in Lothian for gay and bisexual men. This provides a space where guys can talk about the challenges they are facing, free from judgement, and find support to identify ways to improve their sex, health and wellbeing.

The service is flexible and responsive, designed to meet an individuals needs. It’s delivered in a one-to-one setting by LGBT Health’s team of trained volunteer counsellors, who have specialist knowledge of issues faced by many gay and bisexual men.

The service is available Monday to Friday, with appointments available during the day and evening. If you would like to find out more about the service, or are looking for support, contact counselling@lgbthealth.org.uk or call 0131 523 1100

SX also provide a counselling service in the NHS Forth Valley area, for men living with HIV. If you would like to find out more about the service, or are looking for support, fill out our short self referral form here.
